In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
“Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim, be it male or female,” said Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him). Despite this unambiguous directive, Muslim women have lagged far behind in education. Sincere and sustained efforts are needed to raise the level of education among Muslim women. As education is the chief instrument of empowerment, it was felt that the best way to bring higher education to Muslim girls in general, and those from Melapalayam in particular, was to start an Arts and Science College exclusively for girls. Accordingly, As-Sathiq Educational Society was formed and registered as a society on 20.09.2002.
It was a great act of generosity that Haji S.K. Syed Ahmed, Haji V.K. Mohamed Ghouse and Haji S.K. Kutha Mohamed willingly donated 3.05 acres of land owned by them for the noble purpose of establishing Annai Hajira Women’s College. We express our gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu for granting Minority status to Annai Hajira Women’s College through G.O. Ms. No. 306 dated 02.06.2004.
